About the Project
Fuga Café is a sanctuary dedicated to well-being, mental health, and personal growth. Drawing inspiration from the tranquillity of nature, the café seamlessly marries lush greenery with thoughtful interior design, creating a unique haven for both the body and mind.
In this project, I took on the role of a solo designer, responsible for conceiving and executing every aspect, from the logo and design criteria to the floorplan, aesthetic, branding, and fitout.
Fuga Café was envisioned with several key goals in mind, including: wellness education, layout flexibility, digital detox areas, aesthetic consistency, sustainability as a priority, ambient music, ergonomic comfort, natural lighting, functional zoning and calming ambience.
As a student who grapples with mental health issues, I felt compelled to create a space that provides a safe and stress-free zone for other students. My own therapeutic experience with plants and greenery led to the incorporation of abundant greenery into the cafe. This design choice offers a sense of purpose and responsibility, enriching the atmosphere and nurturing a similar connection for others.
Fuga Cafe is characterized by its holistic focus on mental health, encouraging relaxation, mindfulness, and stress relief. The prominence of plants fosters a refreshing atmosphere and represents a unique feature. The design offers dual functionality, seamlessly blending serene relaxation with dedicated study spaces equipped with charging ports and study resources. The cafe also incorporates educational elements to underscore the importance of mental health, especially among individuals in their early to late 20s. Sustainability and wellness are paramount, with a focus on using sustainable products and promoting care for both the planet and individuals. The cafe's online presence extends beyond menus to provide resources and information about mental health and accessing help.
The design and execution of Fuga Café were accomplished through a range of tools and software, including Revit for 3D modelling and space planning, Enscape for real-time rendering and visualization, and Adobe Suite for branding and marketing materials.
Fuga Cafe stands as a testament to the power of design to nurture mental health, promote wellness, and create a tranquil refuge that resonates with nature. It's a realization of my commitment to crafting spaces that foster personal growth and holistic well-being.
